AAPACT Brings Back Sisters! A Celebration of the Human Spirit in recognition of Women's History Month and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center.
The African American Performing Arts Community Theatre (AAPACT) revives woman-themed theatrical production Sisters! A Celebration of the Human Spirit in honor of Women's History Month and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center.
Written by Jerry Ayers and directed by Rachel Finley, this play features a cast of women who tell stories, use movement and perform songs inspired by Dorothy Sterling's book We Are Your Sisters: Black Women in the Nineteenth Century,
Starring Adreana Noel, Ajahne Mason, Charita Coleman, Daryl Patrice, Deana Rahming, Debi Pemberton, Jahnea Mason, Lily Reed, Sarah Gracel, Shauna Burris, Stephon Duncan and Vaughn-Rian St. James, this cast of women bring to life famous female figures like Sojourner Truth, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Harriet Tubman as well as slaves, students, preachers, singers and members of the Ku Klux Klan.
The running time for Sisters! A Celebration of the Human Spirit is 2 hours with a 10-minute intermission.
Performances will run for three shows this weekend: Friday, March 6 2015 at 7:30 pm for $20; Saturday, March 7 at 7:30 pm for $25 and Sunday, March 8 at 4 pm for $20 at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, 6161 NW 22nd Avenue, Miami-Dade, Florida.
