Staten Island teen, Amanda Cummings, died on January 2 of injuries after being hit by a bus on December 27. She committed suicide after being the victim of bullying at her New York school.
A
sophomore at New Dorp High School, Cummings was in a coma at Staten Island
University Hospital. Even while at death's door, the bullying continued, as the
tormentors posted hateful comments on Cummings' Facebook page.
Before her suicide attempt, the 15-year-old stated that she wanted to die. Besides the suicide note found in her pocket, Cummings' Facebook posts also confirmed her feelings, as reported by The NY Daily News.
"I start to realize who the ppl r that dont give a damn about me. I guess im alone. The friends that care...There not rlly there though. Im sick of my life," she posted September 9.
" ill just go f--- myself, just like u said baby, then ill kill myself, with these pills, this knife, this life has already done half the job. -___-," she posted December 1.
According to family members, Cummings had been coping with the recent breakup from a 19-year old boy, who her nemesis also admired. She was bullied by her classmates since the beginning of the school year, but didn't report it to school officials or her parents.
Cummings' family is working toward scouting out the bullies that ravaged their daughter's life and they are using social networks to reach out for help.
"AS A SISTER, A MOTHER, AND A HUMAN BEING WITH A BEATING HEART THAT IS BROKEN, I AM BEGGING YOU KIDS, ANYONE WITH ANY CONCRETE PROOF OF BULLYING TOWARD MY SISTER, PLEASE LET ME KNOW," said Cummings sister, Dawn Weber, on Facebook.
