Pop sensation Christina Aguilera and her boyfriend Matthew Rutler were arrested Tuesday morning for public drunkenness.

According to TMZ, when police officer noticed Rutler driving erratically around 2:45 a.m., they pulled over the vehicle. Aguilera was in the passenger seat.

Officers determined that Rutler was drunk and arrested him for misdemeanor DUI (Driving under the influence). He was later released on $5,000 bail. They also determined that Aguilera was "extremely intoxicated," unable to care for herself, so took her into custody. She was later released after she sobered up.

The incident happens on the heels of her unfavorable rendition of the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV.

"A lot of artists have had a lot of incredibly rough patches, and we've seen a lot of them come back stronger than ever," Keith Caulfield, Associate Director of charts for Billboard.

Christina Aguilera is a multi-platinum-selling artist known for her hit songs such as "Beautiful" and "Genie in a Bottle."

Poor Christina!

Poor Christina! Even though her voice is amazing it seems as though her best days are over :(. Regardless of the recent troubles she's gotten into with the media, its just hard to imagine that she can top the big hits she made years ago. As for her acting, if Burlesque is any indication of what she can do on screen, then her career may not be over!!
