A man was killed while visiting the site of a train crash that happened 119 years ago near Statesville, North Carolina.
According to local legends, the sound of the accident, including the whistle of the train and screams of the passengers, can still be heard. Ghost hunters gather there yearly on the day of the anniversary.
Christopher Kaiser, 29, and 12 other "ghost hunters"
gathered around the crash site last week, only to be confronted by a real
train.
Kaiser was waiting on a trestle when the real train came around the bend causing him and his fellow hunters to run for their life. He was killed.
According to an eye witness, Kaiser pushed a woman and himself
to safety. She fell at least 30 feet from the trestle and is being
treated for injuries.
A police spokesman said "12 people were caught on the trestle when the train rounded the bend. All indications at this point are that this is an accident."
