Big Burgers can damage your jaw

Taiwanese dentists warned that big burgers are a risk to the human jaw and that they should be done away with last Friday.


Professor Hsu Ming-Lun of the School of Dentistry at National Yang-Ming University says that patients have developed sore jaws and have had difficulties opening their mouths after consuming giant burgers. The human mouth is only designed to gape over objects that are up to one and a half inches, but these problems can arise when fast-food fans tuck into burgers larger than three inches high.


Ming-Lun says that overextending the jaw can hurt the joint between the jawbone and the temporal bone in front of the ears.


So, I guess next time you're ordering out, be sure to bring a tape measure.
