Federal prosecutors say New Jersey man Ramesh Advani sexually assaulted a sleeping female passenger on a flight from Hong Kong to Newark on May 21.
Prosecutors say 63-year-old Advani was seated next to the woman on the Continental Airlines flight. Passengers behind the pair witnessed Advani reach under the woman's blanket and sexually abuse her.
They kicked the woman's seat to wake her. The woman awoke and alerted the flight crew.
Advani was detained when the plane landed in Newark on Friday and an initial court appearance is scheduled for May 31.
